Caught in an unrelenting rain while traveling between cities to perform, Holly sought shelter wherever she could find it. By chance—or fate—she slipped into the secluded domain of a reclusive vulpine alchemist and hid herself away, never realizing whose sanctum she had entered. Exhausted from the road and lulled by unfamiliar silence, she fell asleep unseen.

That same night, deep within the chamber she dared not explore, the alchemist completed a dangerous working. A portal tore open reality itself, and the sudden surge of arcane force stirred Holly from her rest. Drawn by wide-eyed curiosity rather than caution, she padded closer, clad in little more than her sleepwear, peeking into a world of instruments, sigils, and forbidden knowledge.

The pull intensified. One careless step, one breath too close—and the choice was no longer hers.Holly was wrenched from safety and cast through the portal before she could cry out.

She awoke in Niflheim.

The frozen, shadow-choked hellscape offered no warmth, no mercy, and certainly no guidance for a young fox raised on books, operas, and gentle lessons from a loving grandmother. With barely any protection from the cold and even fewer practical skills to defend herself, Holly relied on the only strength she truly possessed: her heart and her art.

Song, dance, exaggerated theatrics, and disarming charm became her shield. Some foes hesitated. Others faltered. A few were so thoroughly confused or enchanted that violence never came at all. How long such tactics could sustain her in a realm of torment was uncertain—but Holly clung to hope as stubbornly as she clung to melody.

Somewhere in this frozen abyss, the sage who opened the way still walked. And if Holly could find her, perhaps the path home had not yet closed.
