Digibird Female Species

Base Species

Fritz, the genius rat man scientist, has been long impressed by Elizabeth's Golden Harpy social network. After all, how could a tremendous idiot run such a wonderful place? He long suspected that behind the scenes, Richard Rottingham made the decisions and was responsible for banning some of his favorite celebrities like Trumpy Bird and the Red Hat Cap. Unfortunately, Elizabeth refused to give him any information, complaining he smelled like a rotting corpse, and eventually, he was banned just for asking questions.

Frustrated, Fritz set out to make his own better version of a social network: Digibird! But it needed to be more than just a network run by a corrupt family; it needed to be a physical manifestation of a network, independent of the poking and prodding of various officials and free to be itself for all to access.

The clever rat succeeded, taking virtual right out of virtual reality, bringing digital data to analog life as an idealized Harpy. Digibird would embody his social media network and sing short, sweet tunes to whatever racist fringe group happened to connect to their network, helping them feel better about themselves no matter how idiotic and selfish they sounded.

However, Frits had succeeded a little too well, and his social network had a mind of its own. Digibird had no interest in helping insane scientists like him infect Niflheim with even worse misinformation and take over. So while he was distracted by his failing crypto exchange, they escaped from his laboratory in the OSHA nightmare of a giant rotting corpse called Carcass and even had the nerve to ban him from their network.

The digital songbird loved their newfound freedom, flitting all over Niflheim, singing every short phrase they overheard from every denizen they signed up and verified in their network. Their mad creator, however, could not bear the humiliation and loss of his creation, and he hunted them relentlessly. Digibird escaped his every scheme and avoided his every bizarre invention.

Still, Digibird's songs and struggles attracted attention - including the attention of the wealthiest man in Niflheim, the demon Manon. Confident in his genius, or more accurately, the ability of his generational wealth to allow him to purchase and fund genius he could then claim as his own, Manon approached Fritz Rattery to help reacquire the Harpy.

Mixing mad funds with mad science, the demon, and the lab rat crafted a trap for the bird. They knew the Digibird had a weakness: they envied Elizabeth's overpowered golf cart.

The pair built a sleek, slick, futuristic-looking vehicle that was secretly an electrified cage. It took 24 hours to charge it and drained all the electricity available in the Moonlit Graveyard, but it was worth it. There was no way Digibird could resist emulating their rival.

Placed where the Digibird would see the vehicle, the team waited. Sure enough, they couldn't resist and crawled inside. The door slammed closed, the hull surged with lightning to keep them trapped, and Fritz began to cheer... at least until the vehicle burst into flames and rocketed into the sky, crashing through Manon's roof.

Manon's untested code change during production hadn't worked out so well. Uninterested in taking responsibility for his "genius," Manon was livid, the charred side of his face twitching with rage as he turned toward Fritz Rattery. But the rat bastard had, quite wisely, already fled.

The two-faced villain had no choice now; he would keep Digibird to himself and pray that managing Digibird's social network would earn enough money to repair the damage to his roof. Sure, Manon could afford to pay for it himself, but the rat and Digibird were responsible. Why should he foot the bill? It's not as if his genius interference had been to blame.

Now, Digibird once again languishes in captivity, subject to the will and whims of one man and one man alone. Stuck in a gilded cage, they act as a living social network under the control of a single rich dickhead.

Forced to sing longer and longer songs filled with bigotry, hate, and celebrity pump-and-dump crypto schemes, Digibird sees only the faces of Manon and his ceaselessly rotating staff as he fires, burns through, and outright replaces them. The once-innocent bird can only dream of that brief taste of freedom.
